Galaxy S24This is my fourth Samsung Galaxy device. I have never experienced an issue as confounding as this.
Specs:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, 512GB
- Phone model: SM-S928U
- Android version: 14
Notes/symptoms:
- By "suddenly" -> I mean suddenly. I have owned this phone for approximately 3 months. During that time, everything was working fine with USB-C data transfer to computer. Now it is not detectable.
- By "not detectable" I mean it will not trigger any notification on either device (phone or computer), nor will it receive a charge
- Device has no issue charging over USB-C when plugged into a wall outlet, however it will not charge over USB-C when connected to a computer.
- Device is in pristine condition, was purchased new from T-Mobile, is not rooted, and has had no other issues.
- It is NOT the cable. I have tried multiple high-end cables, including the one that it came with. As a former systems administrator, I am certain that it is not the cable.
- It is not the computer. I have tried various operating/hardware systems: Ubuntu 24.04, macOS 14.4.1 and 12x, Win11. The OS I was previously in the habit of connecting this device to with USB-C is macOS.
- The only odd thing I've done, is rather than using Android File Transfer, I had previously been using the OpenMTP application on macOS for file transfer between my MacBook Pro and S24 Ultra. This was working great for 3 months. I don't think this is related to the problem, but it ought to be noted.
Things I have tried:
- Rebooting, everything, a bunch
- Connecting to various operating/hardware systems: Ubuntu 24.04, macOS 14.4.1 and 12x, Win11 (it's not the computer... it's the phone)
- Connecting with different quality cables
- Uninstalling recently installed apps, turning off Nova Launcher
- Wiping cache partition
- Reseting USB Port Settings, as described here: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s22-series/usb-c-port-not-working/td-p/5546501
- Tweaking every Android setting I can think of
Grievances:
- The lack of an SD card slot on the s24 Ultra is infuriating! It has magnified the impact of this issue 10-fold. I have no way to--locally--retrieve or backup nearly 500GB of data off of my device. What are my options? Attempt to Bluetooth 500GB of data? The lack of an SD card socket is inhumane.
I am now attempting to wirelessly send half-a-terabyte of phone data to the "cloud" as the kids call it lol! Expecting that to take some 24 hours. Then I will perform a factory reset since it's the only thing else I can think of to try. Please help. Please don't make me send my phone to fix this.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Galaxy S24I have a Samsung S24 + ... less than a week old. Just tried to load some music on the device, and nada. Cannot get it to recognize the USB source.

Galaxy S24Same issue since mid-October this year. I have a Galaxy Z Flip (Model: SM-F707U1). I just spent an hour at the store with the guy trying so many things and in the end being unable to fix it.
in the end, he thinks it is a problem from the software update.

Galaxy S24SO, I just got mine fixed last month by having the ubreakifix guy replace the USB Port.
And then it got messed up even more.
Now I cannot call or even text anyone unless I'm on wifi calling. The airplane mode button is highlighted blue when not turned on (though I am able to turn airplane mode on/off whenever I wish). I asked the guy to try and fix it but he wasn't able to. I ended up going back and forth between him, Tmobile, and Assurant.
I've been using my old phone during the past two months (a phone from the J Series of all things). I've sort of given up. I would buy the next Z Flip but they added AI into it and I never want to participate in using AI.

Galaxy S24I "upgraded" to the s24u in the summer.
Didnt really have an issue using bluetooth headphones but then wanted to use a Dac with my Grado headphones.
I'd tried a usb c to 3.5mm convertor but couldn't get it to work. Tested a set of Sonys they did nkt work. Tried Zero Red no joy.
Tried all of these in my laptop and oppo tablet with no issue.
I bought a fiio ka11 dongle which had the same results but was faulty so I changed this for a Dragonfly Black with the dragon tail convertor. Same again worked on everything but the s24u.
I was advised to try audio player pro as a work around but that doesnt appear to have made any difference.

Galaxy S24Has anyone found a working solution to this yet? Just spent 8 hours at the Samsung store getting the USB port replaced and it didn't fix the problem one bit. Phone still does not recognize data through USB cables. Can't connect my phone to my computer, can't use my phone with OBDII cables to read codes and can't view files from a micro SD card or USB drive. All of which I could do previously since I received the phone new. Mine just suddenly stopped working in June sometime. I swear this is due to an update and they don't care to fix it.

Galaxy S24I had the same issue on my S23 Ultra.
I solved the issue by putting my phone in Development mode.
In the menu "Developer options" in "Default USB configuration" I selected "Transferring files / Andoid Auto".
I then disable developer mode.
After this I was able to browse the file system in the Internal storage of my S23 Ultra via the USB A -> USB C cable.
