After Update Not Receiving Text Notfication Sounds

Has anyone stopped receiving notification sounds when using Google messenger? Updated the device and no longer get sounds. The message comes through but no sound. I checked the volume and made sure do not disturb is turned off. I do get notification sounds from other apps but not from messenger anymore. Any ideas?

Update! I found how yo fix this. Check these teo things. Be sure to toggle Show notifications on Lock Screen.

Then also if you are using a watch be sure to toggle on in the settings to show notifications on both phone and watch. It aeems they are off by default now.

My phone since the last update my phone has randomly put in airplane mode,, not receiving notification on phkne calls. This is gdtting me in trouble at work!!

I've been noticing in the past few weeks I'm not hearing my notifications on text messages.   I keep checking my settings as sometimes wearing my watch in the shower the water turns on Do Not Disturb not is not on in this case.   I thought i was just spacing out hearing them from getting so many notifications. But there's times I am looking at my phone when it happens and I don't hear them.  I've been late on replying back to people because I didn't hear my text messages and didn't know I had missed ones.   I'm using Google Messages.

Not the question you asked, but you should not wear your watch in the shower, and if you do, make sure to turn on the water lock for just the reason that things don't get activated by the water.  While the water is fine, soap is not good for the seals (or the oleophobic coating).  Are you not hearing your notifications on the watch or on the phone?  Did you switch text messaging apps?  If you did, you will have to configure the notification sounds for the app you are using.  If you switched to Google, with notification categories turned on, set your sound for the incoming messages.  If you want custom sounds for individual chats, open Google messages and open the specific chat, tap the dot menu, tap details and change sound.  That conversation will now have a custom sound.  Everything else will have the default notification sound you set for incoming messages.  

 

 

 

If you are using an app other than Google, you will have to locate the notification category for new messages and set the default message sound.
