Is there a way to have messages and notifications hidden until fingerprint is used and if so is there a way to keep phone from opening when using fingerprint unlock. What I'm trying to do is what apple does with face id but with my finger print

Just turn off notifications on your lock screen.
But, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want your phone to open when you unlock it? Can you give me a use case where that would be usable?

I like my notifications on my home screen. I don't like how people can see them if they look at my phone .. i set It up where they are hidden until my phone is unlocked by face id but I'm not gonna lie the face id on the Galaxy espcialy in dark areas is horrible. So I was wondering if I could do the same thing with finger print I unlock phone with fingerprint then it'll show my stuff that way I don't always want to be on my phone I just want to see my notifications

If you set your side button function to Power Off Menu, when you press and hold the side button a menu will pop up.

If you then tap 'Lockdown mode', your notifications will no longer be displayed and your phone can only be unlocked by entering your PIN (aka digital paas code). Facial recognition and finger print reader will not work.

I hope this helps.
