Are you using the transparent navigation bar setting? I have that issue on some apps and have found turning off the transparent navigation bar will help. Or. Try using auto-hide navigation bar which would give you access to the bottom of your screen unless you swipe up to bring the navigation bar up. You might try using pop-up mode for that app and resize to fit most but not all of the screen. Also, try using the app in landscape and you might be able to scroll far enough to get to the menu icon. Finally, in Good Lock, on the NavStar mod, you can adjust the size of the navigation bar.
I would not recognize my phone without the buttons. Besides, I have them programmed in routines - double tap home to take a screenshot, back for the flashlight, and recent for Google photos.

It's amazing that people continue to use something that works for them without any real reason to switch to a method that might be complicated for them, especially if they never had experience with motion gestures. Or maybe motion gestures made the interaction with their phone completely different so they still use the antiquated buttons. You know like those that held on to BlackBerry until they absolutely couldn't use it anymore. I still miss my keyboard.
That real estate, while it may be important to some, is absolutely unimportant to me. And, I can hide the navigation bar if it's in my way.
