Hi y'all. After updating to 8.5 and the newest security update, I haven't been able to swipe down to access the notification panel/quick panel on various apps. I've tried resetting the quick panel, restarting the device, clearing the cache on multiple apps, etc. No luck. Have y'all come across anything like this before? Thanks in advance.

Ok so I just went through everything I could think of because this one didn't quite make sense to me, so please forgive me if I've misunderstood it... I don't have this issue at all, and haven't experienced it, but I think the wording threw me a bit. But I have a few ideas:
First suggestion -> SETTINGS -> Search for 'HOME SCREEN' -> Open the first result which will/should be for HOME SCREEN SETTINGS. -> Scroll down to "SWIPE DOWN FOR NOTIFICATION PANEL" -> enable this option if it isn't currently turned on.
Second thought is in relation to in-app swipe behavior, restricting the notification shade to specific zones. If you have swipe features enabled or even the Notification Smart Pop-up features selected, these may be causing the issue.
For both of these, check the following:
SETTINGS -> ADVANCED FEATURES -> MULTI WINDOW -> check to see if or what you have enabled or chosen as the settings for "Swipe for split screen" & "Swipe for pop-up view". Ensure the Swipe Gestures sensitivity isn't blocking edge access. Alternatively, to open the full notification shade within apps, try dragging your finger down from the very top-most edge of the screen rather than the middle.
For Notifications Pop-up styles & Smart pop-up:
SETTINGS -> NOTIFICATIONS -> ADVANCED SETTINGS -> FLOATING NOTIFICATIONS -> check to see what you have set here. If "Smart pop-up view" is chosen but "Included Apps" shows "None", you may have a conflicting display issue there.
Last option is to handle it through the Good Lock app.

Oh snap - just noticed this too - if you already have Good Lock and (most importantly) "ONE HAND OPERATION +" installed & enabled, this could be a culprit.
I was trying to find a setting of my own for an unrelated item and came across this tidbit.
If One Hand Operation + is ENABLED and HIDE QUICK PANEL is selected, this might be causing your issue too.

Thank you for the suggestions! I've tried tinkering with the settings as you had advised, but unfortunately the issue is still at hand. I'm sorry if my wording is a bit difficult to understand.
When I'm in an app (Instagram, Tiktok, Messages, etc.) and I want to pull down the notification shade, I can't pull it down at all. It is as if the device is not registering the swipe down action from the notifications area (scrolling down the page in the app is fine).
I have tried a full swipe down from the top of the screen to bottom, but it is only successful about 1/10 times. I don't have the One Hand Operation+ installed/enabled either... I did stumble upon being able to use NavStar to add a button specifically for the Notification panel, so that will be a temp fix for the mean time... Thank you very much for helping!

Ah, I understand. Did you try pulling down from one of the corners instead of straight down from the center?

I did, no dice. The S pen works better to pull the notifications shade, but I don't want to have to use it every time I want to access notifications or the quick panel. I am definitely feeling like this is a one off.

Definitely not a one-off. There are people all over reddit who reported the same thing over the last few years with numerous Samsung devices, so unfortunately you aren't alone.

I have Quickstar installed from Good Lock - you're able to customize your quick panel in a multitude of ways for what you're needing here .. this may help for both your access issues and give you more customization features. Just a thought ๐ป
