I have a S25+ unlocked straight from Samsung dot com.
I had UI7 and Android 15. I had normal icons on my first screen then two pages of icon groups. Like Stores, Food apps, and Social Media. I also had widgets for my lights in my apartment. I got the notice the day after that my Verizon Unlocked phone now can get UI8 and Android 16. I did the update. Then after it my icons and groups were all messed up. Some groups were just gone, others were broken and icons placed randomly around the screen. Even my widgets were gone.
So I took an hour and redid the groups and made new widgets for power levels. I had not yet done new widgets for my room lights. (Hue). I woke up yesterday and my phone was suddenly back to how it was before. All the changes I made were gone, new widgets erased, even the new groups I made were removed. It was like it was before I updated to UI8 and Android 16.
Is there any reason why this happend? Was it just my phone, or have others had this happen?

Galaxy S25I am also encountering the same issue after updating. My setup was almost identical — I had groups for categories like Food/Stores/Social, plus a couple of widgets for home devices and battery monitoring. After moving to UI 8 and Android 16, all of my icon groups broke apart, several folders disappeared completely, and widgets either vanished or reset.
Like you, I spent time reorganizing everything, only to have the phone “revert” back the next day as if none of my changes had been saved. It felt like the phone rolled back to some cached launcher layout from before the update.
I’m wondering if this is tied to the Samsung launcher backup/restore process during the upgrade, or maybe some sync issue with Samsung Cloud or Google backup that overwrites the new setup. It doesn’t seem like it’s just your phone since I’ve had the same thing happen.

Galaxy S25I was thinking it was with the backup option as well. Where the phone was backing up, saw it was **bleep** up and "fixed it". I am trying to recall if this happened before with any other updates, but I can not recall.
I was wondering if it was one of those things they didnt want people to talk about. Because as soon as I posted this it was blocked and had a banner saying it was a "Spam Post." I posted a question to the mods why it was marked spam, then a day later it was unmarked spam. It could have been a Mod Bot or something. I always have trouble here. In the past the system would say I had HTML in my post text which I did not. I know apple removes posts a lot, but do not think Samsung does much.
