Galaxy S26Hello! I recently made the switch from Apple and purchased the S26 Ultra, and so far I’m really enjoying it. That said, there are still a few things I’m having trouble adjusting to.
At work, I like to keep my phone mounted in front of my keyboard so that when a notification comes in, I can quickly glance over and see whether it’s something I need to respond to. On my Samsung, though, I only hear the default notification chime and the screen doesn’t wake up. It’s a bit frustrating having to manually turn on the screen every time just to see what the notification was.
On my iPhone, notifications worked a little differently. Apps would typically use their own default notification sounds if they had one, instead of the phone’s generic tone, which made it much easier to tell what type of notification I was receiving—almost like the default tone was reserved mainly for text messages.
I’m hoping someone might have some helpful tips—maybe a setting I missed or an app that could help with this. I’ve already enabled lock screen notification cards, but that doesn’t help much if the screen itself doesn’t light up.

Galaxy S26Settings > notifications > notification pop up style > show brief pop-ups even when screen is off.
Notifications > app notifications > choose an app > notification categories > choose a category, click on it, not on the toggle > make sure it's on alert > sound
You can also download good lock from the samsung app store, and there, install the edge lighting plus module, and choose the edge lighting for different keywords. (You can make the edge lighting be only when the screen is off)
Samsung has endless customisation, but it can sometimes be harder to find. If you have any more questions, I'm more than happy to help!

Galaxy S26Thank you for the suggestions. I'm still not seeing the screen turn on when getting a notification.

Galaxy S26To make the screen wake and show the notification when it arrives:
1. Go to Settings: Notifications > Notification pop-up style > select brief and then in the bottom turn on "show even while screen is off"
If this didn't work let me know!

Galaxy S26Wait, it just worked for X but it didn't do it for other apps. I have detailed mode on.
EDIT: It was a "priority notification" so it turned on the screen.
