No, I have an unlocked S26 Ultra with an eSIM, and I was able to download the Beta.

You need an installed SIM to download the first update, whether physical or eSIM. Subsequent updates can be done without one.

Yes you need to put a Sim card. I didn't have one when I tried to join the beta and I got the same message, after I put a eSim on my phone, I was able to join the beta program

I have never seen an available beta. Are they that difficult to join? I stay with the newest devices, but never see an available beta that I can join. Hoping to get in the One UI 9 Beta for my S26 Ultra here in the United States.
