Dear Samsung Health / Galaxy Watch Team,

As a daily user of the Galaxy Watch Ultra and an advocate for integrated wellness technology, Iโ€™m writing to request support for native heart rate broadcasting via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)โ€”specifically, the ability for the Watch to emulate a chest strap or armband and send live HR data to connected fitness machines.

Context
I currently use a NordicTrack S22i bike paired with the iFit armband to capture heart rate data during indoor rides. The bike sends workout metrics (except incline) to Strava, and I use Health Sync to bridge that data into Samsung Health post-workout. While functional, this setup creates redundancy and limits real-time fitness monitoring in Samsung Health.

Notably, competitors like Garmin and Polar already support BLE HR broadcasting natively, allowing users to connect directly to gym equipment without additional accessories.

Requested Features

To enable tighter integration between Samsung Health and third-party workout machines, I respectfully request:

1. HR broadcasting profile via BLE on Wear OS
 - Allow the Watch Ultra to act like a standard HR strap.
 - Support connection with fitness machines and apps (e.g., iFit, Zwift, Peloton).

2. Samsung Health recognition of external workout metrics
 - Enable Samsung Health to ingest and log machine-provided data during synced sessions.

3. Improved interoperability via Health Connect or Samsung Health APIs
 - Facilitate two-way sync with platforms like Strava, Garmin, or direct machine interfaces.

Why It Matters

As a wellness-centered user who values stewardship, precision, and accessibility, I believe Samsung has the opportunity to close a major usability gapโ€”especially as the Watch Ultra is fully capable of BLE broadcasting at the hardware level. This feature would enhance the user experience, reduce dependency on third-party accessories, and position Samsung Health as a more universal fitness hub for serious and casual athletes alike.

I appreciate your ongoing innovation and attention to user feedbackโ€”and Iโ€™d be grateful to see these capabilities included in an upcoming update.

Thank you.

The accessories all pair with the health app.

It is not possible to start an exercise on the watch with a paired 3rd party HR monitor.

Thanks for the link. Does this work for feature requests? This is a known issue that the watches don't support 3rd party HR monitors, not an error.

Further note on this conversation: @realud, Iโ€™ll give the link you shared a try, thank you.

As for the bigger picture, Samsung has now added subscription services for iFit workouts within Samsung Health. If they truly want to partner with iFit, they need to go the distance by making their watches capable of serving as heart-rate monitors with iFit equipment like the S22i bike.

It feels like weโ€™ve come full circle on this issue, and the hope now is that the watch fix is in the works.
