Galaxy WatchI purchased my watch6 in March 2024. I recently started swimming and used the pool swim exercise mode. I followed all the guidelines but the scre
โ
en started to show horizontal lines and flickering. Now it's not even usable.
Very disappointed since it's 5ATM and IP68 rated. As it's out of warranty my options are to try and have it repaired, which will likely cost as much as a new watch, or but a new watch.
Very hesitant on dropping another couple hundred dollars on another Galaxy.
Any recommendations to revive the screen?

Galaxy WatchEven if the watch were in warranty, it's doubtful it would have been covered. A quick dip into a pool because you dropped it and immedately retrieved it? Sure. But going swimming on a regular basis? Nope.
5ATM means it can withstand pressures to 50 meters IN A STATIC ENVIRONMENT. In other words, taking your watch for a swim means all bets are off.
I've had so called waterproof watches give up the ghost after just a couple of years. The seals do not stay "fresh" and the older the watch, the more likely that water will make ingress when you take it swimming.

Galaxy WatchYou may have a watch with a defective seal, or somehow the seal deteriorated. This should not happen. I will tell you it's nearly impossible to find a service center who works on the watches (at least, that's been my experience). Even if you could and they replaced your inner workings, there's no guarantee the would seal it correctly. Personally, I'd never trust the seal on a watch that's been opened. And, you are right. It will likely cost about the same as a new watch. Even if it was still under warranty, Samsung would more than likely deny the water damage repair, as warranties never cover the incidental damage (water damage) for a failed part. You are better off with a new watch entirely. I understand your hesitation in buying another Samsung, but I have had no swimming issues with either my watch 2, 4 or 7 and I swim regularly, both in pools and open water.
