Keeping your notes up to date across your phone, tablet, and PC should be easy. With Samsung Notes sync, everything you write stays connected—so you can pick up right where you left off. Here’s a simple walkthrough to help you understand how Notes sync works and how to fix the most common issues.
What Is Samsung Notes Sync?
Samsung Notes sync lets you access the same notes on all your devices signed in with the same Samsung account. If you edit or delete a synced note on one device, it updates everywhere else. Think of it as your notes traveling with you.
How to Turn on Notes Sync
Sign in to your Samsung account
Make sure every device—phone, tablet, and PC—is signed in using the same Samsung account.
On mobile:
Settings → Sign in to your Galaxy
Notes → Settings → Sync with Samsung Cloud → Turn ON
On PC: You must install both:
Samsung Notes app
Samsung Account app (Both are available in the Microsoft Store.)
Most sync issues happen simply because the Account app isn't installed.
Choose Your Sync Method
You can choose how Notes syncs:
Wi-Fi only
Wi-Fi or mobile data
If your device is on mobile data and sync is set to Wi-Fi only, syncing won’t occur. This is one of the most common issues users report.
Quick Sync: How to Sync Immediately
You can manually force a sync at any time.
Option A — Through Notes Settings:
Notes → Settings → Sync with Samsung Cloud → Sync now
Option B — Faster Method:
In the Notes list, swipe down to trigger Sync now.
The first sync may take longer depending on how many notes you have.
Understanding How Sync Works
A few important things to know:
Only changes sync, not entire notes
If you add text, an image, or audio, each action syncs in the order it was created.
Sync doesn’t cancel once a change has started
If Device A adds something while Device B is offline, the moment B reconnects, that change will sync.
What Happens If Something Gets Deleted?
If you delete content on Device A, that deletion is considered the most recent action, so it will sync to Device B and remove the content there too.
If you accidentally removed something:
Keep sync OFF on the device that still has the correct version
Save that note as a file in My Files
Re-import it as a new note to push it back to other devices
Why Notes Might Not Sync
Here are the most common reasons:
Sync is set to Wi-Fi only, but the device is on mobile data
Temporary server or network error
Note exceeds the handwriting limit (100,000+ strokes)
Auto sync data is turned off
Importing a note is confused with syncing
Notes are stored incorrectly on rare occasions
The device needs an update to support newer note features
Why You Might Not See the Sync Option
In some cases, “Sync with Samsung Cloud” doesn’t appear:
Child’s device managed with Family Link
Device running Android for Work Mode or Knox Mode
Maximum Power Saving turned on
Trash Doesn’t Sync — On Purpose
Deleted notes go to the Trash on all devices, but emptying Trash does NOT sync.
This protects you from losing something forever. If you emptied Trash on one device, you can still recover deleted notes from another device’s Trash (within 30 days).
What Happens If Two Devices Edit a Note at the Same Time?
You’ll see a File Conflict during Notes sync popup with options:
Compare Notes (recommended)
Keep current device’s version
Keep the other device’s version
Save both
Final Tips
Always keep the Samsung Account app installed on PC
Make sure each device uses the same Samsung account
Check whether sync is restricted by settings or battery modes
Use “Sync now” after big edits or on a new device

Very helpful information to know, especially if you have notes that have required information that you need and can't get access to it on a certain device
Syncing to One Note doesn't work if your other device is a non-Samsung tablet. The Samsung notes sync to a part of One Note that is not visible on those devices. Please fix this to make the sync smoother to One Note.
Please add "Sticky Notes" feature in Samsung notes windows app so I can use it on my galaxy book, the current version of the galaxy book samsung notes app doesn't have this feature, and even after syncing a note in which there's a sticky note present (added from mobile app), the sticky note isn't visible in the windows app.
I kindly request you to update the Samsung notes app for Windows regularly and provide it wi th all the features that the mobile application has, this is very urgent and essential for my studies. Please provide all the features present in the mobile app for the windows app, not doing so is only hurting your loyal consumers and not doing so will force them to shift to brand which offer same functionality across all their devices.
I need this type of information for the Samsung calendar. I am afraid of upgrading my Samsung phone because I have completely lost my calendar twice in the past. I know it syncs with Google calendar. But is that the only way to save it?
Sync is deadly to critical data, especially audio/Video/photos!! We frequently require BAK to Cloud or External Drive. Utilizing SYNC W/O BAK ONLY OPTION WILL GUARANTEED LOSE IMPORTANT FILES. Be Aware. As they DESPERATELY want to DUPLICATE LOCAL STORAGE TO ENSURE YOU'RE NOT USING CLOUD STORAGE AS FREQUENTLY INTENDED. THEY'LL (onedrive 1TB worst offender w $100/yr 365 Sub) Fills my 512GB SSD with ½ of available cloud storage! Why isn't there an option easily accessible *maybe an app market idea* demonstrate, graphically, where and what connected files will be deleted? It's **bleep** forcing DUPLICATE local storage hostage if CLOUD desired. Android or iOS ought handle important contacts, call logs, settings, app data, password sync, ect. WOW, AUTO **BLEEP** to a word which IS NOT PROPHANE OR VIOLENT > MERELY FORCED UNDESIRABLE LANGUAGE IS CENSORED? Wt N Korea or China Fever have your tounge S Korea? Oh, when corporate interests it's auto Isreal Doctrine? Oh, it's 100% anti-sedimentary geology. I found shale and permafrost in excavation site! Censored (but Geology spellcheck may autocorrect to xxCide) Totally understand off-topic UNTIL IT'S USE IS EMPLOYED ON TOPIC RESPONSE. Now, fair game Evidence-Based Exhibit in My State Bar License 😉 Isn't the Texas AG Suit interesting about Smart Tv's. Hopefully MDL will cover All US and other countries w User Privacy Rights! Hisense is 100% done. A Galaxy Close to you is also indicted (TV) Welcome.
I wish it kept the note in the color background and font you wanted upon opening but I have to change it per note, I also wish when shared notes were changed or updated, added to, it highlighted what was new or something
I absolutely love the ease, convience, and partnership between Samsung and Microsoft, whether it be an app or linking Android-to-PC.
Samsung and Microsoft make a perfect team!
And I'm loyal and support both of them, except my laptop is HP. But probably not for very much longer.
It's great to access both developers apps in either of their respective app stores with the highest level of trust and confidence that's hard to find in other app stores.
Kudos and many thanks to these companies!
May they continue to work in harmony, bringing together the best of Samsung/Android OS and Microsoft/Windows OS!
How about privacy across the board, cause all I'm getting is tired of chasing my tail for someone else's fuq job, and tmobile blaming Samsung, and visa versa....and Google where r they if ya need help, unless u own a business that is.......AND WHy DOESNT ADMIN HAVE A FUQN PAPER TRAIL? SO I CAN GET MORE SHAT ON!? ...... But of course , when I go on a tangent , voice to text will surely mess it all up👏🙏😊🔥
