I recently upgraded a Sony LED tv to a Samsung S90H. I have the tv and my Denon AVR-X1100W connected both by optical cable and also by HDMI. With CEC enabled on both, everything works except for one thing.
I have a Yamaha mixer board connected to the tv's audio out (line out) connection. After struggling a LOT and eventually doing a factory reset on the Denon, I've come to learn that when I have CEC enabled on the receiver, I cannot hear any analog signal through the receiver. When I turn off CEC on the receiver, I do hear the analog signal just fine.
One thing that makes me think this is a problem with the tv (beyond the fact that the Sony never had this problem) is that when I go to settings on the tv, and choose for audio to go to the audio out channel (when CEC is enabled on both devices), I hear a signal on the analog channel of the receiver for just an instant.
The receiver has a priority scheme where any digital signal automatically overrides the analog signals. So, I'm thinking this points to the Samsung tv sending some sort of handshake or something over HDMI that is usurping the audio out signal. Is this possible? And if so, is there any way to stop the tv from doing that so the audio out is the only signal going to the receiver?
1. Break the audio conflict by removing the optical cable between the TV and the Denon. Since HDMI already handles CEC and audio return, the optical cable is redundant and often forces digital priority loops when combined with analog inputs.
Or
2. If you need HDMI-CEC for power and volume control, place an extractor on the TV's HDMI output to strip the digital audio stream before it hits the receiver.
Sounds like an HDMI-CEC/input-priority conflict on the Denon. The brief analog signal suggests the TV is triggering a digital/CEC event that makes the receiver switch inputs. Try disabling HDMI Control/CEC on the Denon, or assign the analog input separately from the TV’s HDMI connection.

@davidwarner344 I still need the tv to power on the Denon. I have confirmed that if I disable HDMI control, analog works, but then I lose the power on/off control (and volume control) that I like from the tv controller.
