990 Pro Encrypted Drive hardware BitLocker not working

I just got the 990 Pro and with the latest firmware - 0B2QJXD7 - it doesn't support Encrypted Drive / hardware based BitLocker.

The same steps that work with an older 850 EVO don't work in this case, manage-bde can't write band metadata.

Is this a known limitation? I bought the drive specifically for the hardware BitLocker feature.

There currently is a bug in the 990 Pro's firmware interfering with the eDrive functionality. I had no problem enabling hardware encryption with BitLocker on my old 970 Evo Plus just now for testing.

I am also having issues. I had no problem enabling eDrive for the 970 Evo and the 980 Pro so I am fairly annoyed.

At this point the 980 Pro is one of the best options for people who have no choice but to use BitLocker I think. With eDrive the 980 Pro beats the 990 Pro in every aspect.

For anyone other 990 Pro owners out there, please let me know if you find a solution. I have the drive with encrypted drive enabled in Magician, but when I try to do

manage-bde -on c: -fet hardware 

it tells me that the drive does not support hardware based encryption.

I have the same problem 😞 I spent many days trying everything. I erased and installed the system many times, and by this I shortened the lifespan of my new Samsung 990 Pro and all my efforts are useless.
Dear Samsung, do you really think that this the best SSD drive, which should cost so much money?

I think we should be fine, this stuff is pretty resilient nowadays.

I'm sure we'll get a firmware update, I got a thread going with the Samsung support and I explained this behavior in detail there.

Just in case,  who is interested, in OPAL encryption, I found a nice free program, Opal Lock which offers OPAL hardware encryption. At the moment there is a problem of setting up, on second step - creating  a pre-boot-image on USB stick. I am in touch with the support for fixing the issue. 
I assume that the reason for the inability to complete the setup in this program may be the same that does not allow to configure encryption with BitLocker

Just make sure you are not running into the "Block SID Authentication" in the BIOS as this will cause HW Bitlocker not to work.

I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s block SID. I have to disable block SID to enable bitlocker on my 980 Pro and my 970 Evo. I follow the same steps for the 990 Pro including disabling block SID and it still doesn’t work.
