Samsung Magician 990pro Firmware update taking a long time

   I am new to this forum, as many of you will probably look at my profile, so bare with me. I looked though to see if there was something pertaining to my inquiry but I could not locate anything that could answer my questions. I don't believe this would require a customer service ticket, at least not yet, so I don't think it requires customer support but I will let you be the judge.

   As the headline says, I got a prompt to update my 990Pro this morning and said it could roughly take 20 minutes to complete. As of the writing of this port It has been more than hour and it still says Firmware Update is in progress. There is no bar that indicates how much time is left or even a percentage number that at least says where it is at. This essentially had "locked" my computer as I cannot do anything else since the notification stated that the PC will restart when it is done and any work would be lost if not saved.

   My questions are as follows:

1. If I restart my computer during the update, will this damage my drives?

2. If there is a power loss due to outside influence during this update, would Samsung cover the loss of the damaged drives due to this abnormally long update.

3. I read in a post previously that Samsung was aware of this problem years ago, has this problem been resolved?

4. This is probably outside the scope of this forum, is Samsung going to add a progress bar of some sort to at the very least inform its customers of how long installations will take.

5. The firmware did not state that it was updating the 980pro, is there no firmware update for this drive?

That is all that I have for now as the PC could restart at any moment, hopefully.

Me as well.... I have three 990 Pros and I hit the Update All button just about 20 minutes ago... Still says Firmware Update in Progress! Never had firmware updates take this long! 

Is it ok to reboot and maybe just select each drive individually, instead of selecting all...??

Two 990 Pros. Thought about whether to do each one separately orupdate all. Decided Samsung are good at firmware updates so let's go all in. Hoping this isn't going to end in tears.

Usaf121, Devereiii, have either of you had a successful update yet, did you take the risk and kill the update or are you still waiting? You're a few hours ahead of me.

Sorry, had to work. 10 hours later and I am still stuck at Firmware update in progress.

Task Manager showed 6 Samsung Magician sub-process running. All consuming 0% CPU so I decided to kill the main Samsung Magician.

Restarted Magician. Firmware updates hadn't been applied and we're both available to update again. Didn't do this. Restarted PC and all started up again as normal.

Later, I'll try a single update after doing a backup of the drive.

Earlier today my task manager only showed one sub-process with no cpu and only a 5.7mb memory draw, still that way now. The app shows roughly 6% cpu and 70mb draw but probably has been this way all day.

I have a 990 Pro 2TB, it just keeps telling me that the update failed. Maybe this is better than it never ending. Also, perhaps, they are working on it so it currently fails. I hope they are working on the problem.

I won't say this is a fix, I will just say I decided to bite the bullet and cancel the update. Windows isn't on either of the drives that had the update and checked to see if the drives still work. They are working, I will just wait and hope that someone who knows something will finally reply to this thread and give some sort of update on this before I attempt the update again.

It doesn't update for me at all. Neither update option works for me, Magician and ISO.  Hopefully Samsung comes out with a better software problem than Magician. I like some features on it but as far as updating firmware it's pain.
