Secure Authenticator

On my Galaxy phone I have Deutsche Bank Secure Authenticator installed, using the One Time Password option. When it gives me the eight-figure number to copy, I can't see how it's done without the keyboard in sight.  So I can't access my account on line. Forgive me. I'm a very old man and frequently can't see the obvious but how can I recognise that One Time Password and thus move on?

Hey there! So you're within the app, and you're needing to copy the password it's providing you there? Do you have the ability to press and hold the text within this window? Some authenticators auto copies the text if you select it.

Hi VV. Thanks for this. When I press and hold the eight-figure OTP a message appears saying 'copied to clipboard'. But I can't find any clipboard; and in any case, by the time I've found it, my 30 seconds will be up! Does this give you any clues?

When it says copied to clipboard, just go to the site where you need to fill in the 8-digit code and again press and hold. You will see an option to Paste. Click on it to paste code from the clipboard.

Thank you, RN4, but there does not seem to be another page to go to. Immediately underneath the OTP there is a box saying 'Copy Code'. This is obviously somehow relevant, but no matter how hard or long I press, it offers no solution. What and where is the clipboard anyway?

@Patrick C Once you have seen the "copied to clipboard" you need to visit the app or page which sent you to the authenticator.

Hopefully these instructions will help:

  1. Click the 3 vertical line icon in the bottom of your screen.
  2. Find and click on the app which needs this authenticator code.
  3.  In the entry field, long press until you see the floating menu appear. Click on Paste on that menu.

If the app wasn't still open or available after pressing the 3 vertical line icon, try this:

  1. Click the rounded square icon in the bottom of your screen.
  2. Find and open the app which needs this authenticator code.
  3.  In the entry field, long press until you see the floating menu appear. Click on Paste on that menu.

Many thanks for this but it doesn't seem to fit the bill.

May I make clearer the procedure I follow?

I have the icon Db Secure Administrator. I press it and get the request to enter my PIN. On doing this, i am transferred to a choice of four ways of proceeding. My choice is the One Time Password option.  I press that choice and my OTP appears on another page giving me thirty seconds to do what I have to.  I press anything that can be pressed but nothing happens. At the end of the thirty seconds I am asked on another page if I would like another OTP generated. I press 'generate now' and go through the rigmarole all over again.

I should say that there is no SIm card in the phone at the moment, but my understanding is that a Sim card is necessary only when one needs to send messages, e-mails etc.

I doubt that all this makes anything clearer but any comments would be appreciated.

@Patrick C Thanks for the clarification. Here is what is happening. Db Secure Administrator is texting you the OTP. Without a SIM card in your phone you are not receiving the text message with the OTP.

You will need to either put an active SIM in your phone or choose a different method for proceeding.

I now have a SIM card in the phone but I'm afraid it's made no difference. I am still told 'OTP copied to clipboard' but where or what the clipboard is, I have no idea. In any case, with 30 seconds to play with, I'd never get to it in time.

@Patrick C The clipboard is where things are stored when you copy/paste. It is not a separate app. It is accessible when you are in the keyboard by clicking this icon. Screenshot_20221207_181249_Messages.jpg

But you can access the clipboard using the paste menu as described in my previous post. I copied that below:
