It can be frustrating when your apps don't work as expected, especially after an update.

Here are some things to understand and steps you can take to address the issues you're having!

Understanding who is responsible for what.
Imagine your phone or tablet as a shopping mall. The mall was built, owned, and operated by Samsung. The mall's owner is responsible for maintaining the facilities and property, as well as any services the mall itself directly provides to consumers.

Inside the mall are various stores, each one with a different set of products for sale and a unique function. These are the apps on your device. Even though they exist inside the shopping mall, each store is independently owned and operated. Each shop owner has autonomy and runs their business as they see fit.

Now imagine you are in the food court of this shopping mall.

You are quite hungry and order a cheeseburger, only to receive this:

Who is responsible for the fact that you were served a moldy sock-burger? Is it the owner of the shopping mall, or the owner of that specific burger shop in the shopping mall?

Obviously, the mall owner just rents out the space, and the restaurateur is responsible for making it right if they want to 1) remain in business and 2) retain you as a customer.

In the same way, third party app developers are responsible for making sure their apps work properly, especially after a major update. While the app may run on a Samsung phone, it is not up to Samsung to make it right.

Now that we understand who is responsible for what, here are some things you can try if you find apps aren't working properly after an update:

☆ Follow Samsung’s Best Practices Guide
In particular, clearing device cache is an important practice in order to clean up junk files and keep things running smooth.

See the guide here:

☆ Use Samsung’s Good Guardians

Download Good Guardians and run its various modules. These modules optimize performance and can identify unusual behavior.

App Booster re-optimizes your apps. This should be run after an update.

If the issue persists, it may be an issue with the specific app rather than with your device.

☆ Make sure the app is up to date.
Check the Play Store/Galaxy store for updates.

☆ Troubleshoot by restarting the app.
Sometimes app issues are as simple to resolve as force closing and restarting that particular app. To do this, open the Task Switcher. This is the view where your apps appear as cards side-by-side. Close the troublesome app by swiping up or tapping "Close all."

☆ Troubleshoot by clearing app data.
Go to Settings > Apps > Desired app > storage > clear cache. If that doesn't help, clear data. If that doesn't help, uninstall/reinstall.

☆ If none of these steps correct your problem, send an error report to the app's developer (developer contact info available in Play Store Listing) to make them aware of the issue.

☆ If the app is a first party app developed by Samsung, you can send feedback in the Samsung Members app. Visit the Support tab and navigate to "Send Feedback."

Please read the post on which you commented for detailed advice on third party apps. This is not a Samsung issue. You will need to contact Ring (Amazon) support regarding issues with their app.

It may be an issue with your specific account, as I have not experienced any issues with my Ring products post-update.

I will download file you suggested. I have already deleted apps from both phones and reinstalled from Play Store to no avail. As I said I have spent 2 hours on the phone with RING speaking to more than one person who tried to resolve the issue but no one could find the source. Thank you for your help.

Great explanation! Updates can break apps sometimes.
Best thing is to clear cache, update the app, or reinstall it.
If it still doesn’t work, the app developer needs to fix it.

Ok, but what if the problem is with the Samsung email app? Yep I'd say it's Samsung's problem. So after the latest update to my Galaxy S25 , the Samsung email app won't scroll down properly when you are replying to an email.

Astronaut simply indicates a newly created account. Your ranking, which currently reads "Constellation," is based on your activity and indicates your status in the Members community.

Highly active users with a history of solving other users' problems are indicated in purple.

If a Samsung app is experiencing an issue, and you are unable to resolve it by following the steps outlined in the post, then it is Samsung's responsibility to fix it.

I recommend sending an error report to samsung to make them aware of the issue and temporarily switching to another email app until your issue is resolved.

Basically, do your due diligence and learn who the developers are. The Samsung Email app is developed by Samsung, so what does that tell you? It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp.

Here's a tricky one for you. If an app called Google House is developed by Samsung, who do you contact: Google or Samsung?
