Tabulation Key No Functionality?

I've been trying to get the tab key from Keys Cafe to work for ages to no avail.

Issue: Tab Key seemingly does nothing when pressed.

Expected Outcome: Tab key adds 5-7 spaces when pressed.

I've been wanting a Tab key for ages. If anyone can help me fix this or understand why it seemingly doesn't work let me know please.

I am aware there are hacky ways to make a pseudo-tabulation with the clipboard. I would prefer to have a dedicated key as I make lists with sub-points often.

Keys Cafe. You can find it within Samsung's Good Lock app. If you're unaware it's Samsung's way of giving people some more customization on their phones that don't come with the phone out of the box. Think of them as add-ons.

Ok yeah i know about keys Cafe, i just never saw THAT screen. I don't even know where I'm going for that. the little experience i had with KC it screwed up my keyboard layout and I couldn't find the period key anymore.

You'll need to enter Keys Cafe then enter the "Keyboard" page then on the bottom bar on that page, go to "Make". Then you could edit or create a keyboard layout which is what that screen in the screenshot is

If the key feels like it is doing nothing, it is usually because most mobile apps do not support standard Tab spacing. Apps like text messaging, WhatsApp, and social media ignore tab inputs entirely.

How to Verify It Works

To see if the key is mapped correctly, test it in a text editor that natively supports document formatting:

Open Samsung Notes or Google Docs.Type a sentence and press your new key.The cursor should jump forward as an indent.

I have verified the key works in docs.

I wish there was a (true) way to map a string of characters to a single key. I know the screen in the screenshot has that function but it seems to ignore repeated spaces so "[space][space][space][space][space]" or "[space][space][space][space][space]-" gets turned into "[space]" or "[space]-" which is very annoying
