Forgetting the tablet PIN

I forgot my tablet password and I can't open it and I can't even get a receipt. Can anyone help?

A factory reset is the only way to unlock the tablet if you completely forget the lock screen password.

Performing a factory reset will erase all personal information, files, and pictures stored locally on the tablet. Furthermore, Samsung (Android) utilizes a security protocol called Factory Reset Protection (FRP). When the tablet boots back up after the reset, you must log in using the exact same Google account and password that were previously registered on the tablet. If you do not know that email or password, the tablet will permanently stay locked on the setup screen.

After all this time, I *still* can't understand how people "forget" a PIN that not only did they set themselves, but also have to use *at least* once a day (assuming they may have extend unlock on).

It's my opinion that 99% of these posts claiming they forgot their pin/password are really someone trying to get into a phone or tablet that is not theirs.

I agree.  The only acceptable excuse for forgetting a PIN is if the tablet was unused for years and just found.

Pen and pad in a secure location works wonders, even in our high tech world. Having a trusted person who can access your devices is also a good idea.

I suppose some people have things on their phones/tablets they'd prefer to take to their graves, but I would personally like my loved ones to have access to my device after I pass.

I know when my dad died, there were crucial notes, logins, and other data that would have made final arrangements more difficult if we couldn't access them.

I for one have ill admit it forgotten a password or pin when I was forced too change them from the ones ive used for yrs ,being forced meaning for some GOD awful reason im always being logged out of my Google account and when I log back in theres different devices logged into my account n im thinking **bleep**? So theres the being forced too change them but here's the kicker those strange devices were all my devices for instance my Windows laptop im logged into my account no issue there but laptops n tablets have other names that they go by ,Windows is Windows and it has a tablet mode in it and it's Asus as well so when I saw Asus logged into my account and the ip address was one town over im thinking im hacked but I wasn't but I was **bleep**out so I remotely locked the Asus n thought I fixed them but didn't write down the password to the remotely locked Asus and I did this on my phone so I go to get onto my laptop and im locked out ive done this oh say a dozen times on different devices so long story made longer theres also the Vanced apps too it'll allow u too change the name of yr device n so when I did that and reset my device well I couldn't log into my account under my devices factory given name n not knowing this I had change to a new email n everything so until I figured all that **bleep** out I lost all progress on games all info on my phones ect .

So even if l get a factory reset, l have to know the exact password l started with?
