Galaxy Wearable Music, SOS, etc randomly run in the background on Galaxy Watch 4 even when I don't use the apps. I stop them from running in the background and lo and behold, they show up just minutes later running in the background again. This was never an issue before this one UI 5/Wear OS4 update. Samsung please, please fix this ASAP.

The companies I read about use the same ppg tech that is in our watches. I would think that Samsung has the horsepower to fix what the FDA says is unacceptable and bring it to market. Like I say, 6 years should be long enough, Samsung has made many repeat sales on the promise of great things. It's only fair to their customers - us. It's not too much to ask.

Anyone having issues with apps working in the background of your watch after the update? I think this is why my watch battery is draining faster. The apps that are running in the background is the music app and wearable app.

Make sure to update these apps in the Galaxy Play Store on your watch. They shouldn't be running in the background afterward. If they are, you can stop them by tapping on the background apps running notification.

Thank you for your response! They are all updated. When I do remove them from the background, they appear again and hour or so later. I figured out the Samsung Health app and stopped it from running. So now I just need the wear music app and the emergency thing to stop running in the background to save my battery. šŸ˜ž

Emergency? You never mentioned that. Could you explain a little bit more? Are you able to stop the Music app on the Galaxy Wearable app, in Watch Settings>Apps>Music? You could also try uninstalling and then updating the app again.

I'm sorry, I'm terrible at explaining things.

I'll start over. I updated the Galaxy watch 4 Classic LTE to the new software, 5. A few days later I noticed my watch battery was dying faster than normal. I went to my recent apps on the watch and cleared them. I noticed also after clearing them and going back to recent apps, the words "3 active in background". Those are galaxy wearable music, Health platform, and sometimes, emergency and safety. Sometimes the Media controls will be on that list, too.

I don't even know what the music thing. I only use Spotify. I clear all those but they will appear again at random when I check recent apps on the watch.

I hope that makes more sense. šŸ˜ž

Yes, thank you for explaining! Here is something you can do. With the watch off, press both buttons until Samsung and "rebooting" appears underneath, then immediately press the Power/Home button many times until a menu appears. Tap the power button to scroll down to "Recovery" then hold the button to select. The watch will boot into Recovery Mode. Using the back/bottom button to scroll, highlight Wipe cache partition, then tap power to select and confirm on the following screen. Reboot from the original menu with the power button. If this doesn't work, something else you could try would be to reinstall the Galaxy Wearables app. May I ask if you have set up the options related to Safety and Emergency in your watch? The Media Controller is used for the Spotify app.

Great advice! I just tried it and it's the same thing happened.

Yes, I do have a persons info on the safety and emergency.

Would it mess up the watch if I uninstalled the music and the health platform from the watch? I even tried to force stop the health platform app and it did not work either.

If you're able to uninstall these apps, go for it. Make sure that you reinstall though, otherwise certain features might not function properly. The emergency option showing up is a bit strange. An alternative is factory resetting and restoring. The process is very easy and takes less than 30 minutes to get back up and running. Make sure to immediately update all apps after you do this to ensure nothing is running in the background. When I had this occur, these apps still hadn't updated in the "Samsung app updates" section of in Settings>Apps. You could also see if the Health Platform app is connected properly to Samsung Health in that same menu.

Okay, I have a theory! I reset everything again and I'm still having the same issue. I just changed watch faces and I am not seeing any apps in the background once I did that. I switched back to the face watch I had and the background apps came back. I'm still testing it, but Samsung may need to do something about the new stretch app watch face. šŸ¤·ā€:female_sign:
