How to access developer options on my a12?

can anyone tell me where to access developer options on my a12? it doesn't seem to be in same place as I found it on my previous android phones, and I can't find it anywhere else in settings either. if I remember correctly you have to activate it/turn it on to see & use it, but I don't see where to do this on this phone. appreciate it.

Go to settings/about phone/software information and tap on the build number 10 times to enable the developer options. The developer options will now appear at the bottom of your settings list.

Tap the build number in software information 7 times, than unlock it with your password than it should be there
