Saw a solution from a2023post  but it doesn't work for me.   My new phone which brought over my old phone's apps did not bring my Samsung messaging app.  Samsung Store app shows on my installed app list (under settings) but does not 'open'.   Play Store offers more than one messages app with icons similar to Samsung but not really Samsung, it seems.
I am quickly losing patience with the Google messaging app and am not thrilled with Textra app.   Guess I'm a bit spoiled as I'm missing the microphone that lets me dictate text message instead of typing.   Hope someone here can send me a workaround.   Many thanks for your review and any help you can give.

Im taking it that you mean A16 not S16 an you should be able to download and use Samsung Messages from the Galaxy Store it hasn't been discontinued a lot of people still use it daily

https://galaxystore.samsung.com/detail/com.samsung.android.messaging?langCd=en

Theses are the steps to get the Microphone back in the bottom left corner

Voice to Text

If your referring to the voice to text microphone try this

Phone settings

General Management

Keyboard list and default

Toggle on show keyboard button on navigation bar

Now you should see a microphone or keyboard icon in the bottom left corner of your screen if its the keyboard icon long press it and select voice input

Another Option is to make the keyboard button your Voice to text button

Go to Settings

General Management

Samsung Keyboard settings

Swipe, touch, and feedback

Touch and hold spacebar

I'm still using the Samsung Messages app, but on an A32-5G. I did notice a message asking me if I wanted to "update" my Messages App(but this was a Google Messages app, and looked almost identical). Maybe because I have an A32-5G, it's still available, and came on my phone. Maybe if I had "Updated", to the similar looking app, I'd have lost my Samsung Messages App..?!✌️

Google Messages should allow you to use voice to text. Just tap the microphone icon in the bottom left corner.1750804484867.jpg

It's my understanding that Samsung Messages is not available on newer phones, but is still available in the Galaxy Store on older models.
