Fold/Flip 7 feedback, suggestions

Hey @SamsungMobile, I have some feature suggestions for the upcoming Z Fold series that I believe could enhance the user experience. 

1. Gesture-Controlled Volume Button:

A flat, gesture-sensitive volume button where users can slide up or down to adjust the volume, similar to how the power button integrates the fingerprint sensor.

The button could still be physically pressable for added flexibility.

Adding customizable single and double-tap actions (e.g., app shortcuts or quick commands) would make it even more functional.

2. Built-in S Pen:

Integrating an internal S Pen slot would solve a real issue for users like me who don’t like using phone pouches just to carry the S Pen.

Offering two versions—one with an S Pen and one without—could cater to different budgets and preferences.

3. Refined Camera Design:

The under-display camera (UDC) on the unfolded inner screen is fantastic and adds to the seamless design.

However, the visible hole-punch camera on the outer screen breaks the uniform aesthetic. It would be amazing if Samsung could introduce an under-display camera on the outer screen as well, creating a clean, uninterrupted look on both displays.

I truly believe these improvements would make the Z Fold 7 stand out even more and reinforce Samsung's leadership in foldable innovation.

Integrated S pen will not happen. Samsung is actually looking at Apple design to change s pen design

Thank you for your response. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the gesture-controlled volume button idea. It could offer sliding gestures for volume control and customizable tap actions for quick commands, similar to how the power button integrates the fingerprint sensor.

Integrated s-pen will not happen unless you want the fold to remain fat. It'll probably get a magnetic docking solution at some point.

Volume (and power) should always remain physical. The user should be able to identify the volume and power buttons without looking and be confident they're pressing the buttons. They also shouldn't have touch functionality, because they are frequently utilized as is and adding touch gestures to the volume will just result in accidental activation or button presses. Adding extra buttons or swipe zones elsewhere, like the iPhone camera or action buttons, go for it. Theres really no reason not to have those at this point.

Id definitely like to see them offer the S Pen again with a magnetic strip on the back to stow it in similar to the Tablets. I have a great case for my Galaxy Tab S9 where it covers most of the S Pen when attached to keep it from falling off and getting lost.

Just keep the Pen, The Fold is at its best with a Pen, Who cares if the Pen is part of my case, at least it is always there when I Take it out. I would prefer that Samsung continues to incorporate the S-Pen underscreen digitizer since taking notes is superhelpful.

100% agree. I will net be guying one if it does not have the digitizer layer. I can deal with a lot of bad decisions on there part, but removing the digitizer layer gives me no reason to stick with Samsung any more. We go back to the early Note series.

I really want an embedded S Pen. Folding phones love to tout how thin their phones are and then have monstrous cases to store the pen. I'd love for them to have the pen work on the outside too, especially since the outside screen requires slightly more fidelity, especially when things like buttons get overly shrunk with some apps.
Seeing how samsung is with the 6SE and the new 25 Ultra I wouldn't be surprised if they neglected or removed the spen... but that's why I chose samsung, it's so nice to have a canvas to draw on anywhere as an artist.
