The Samsung app highlighted everything at at one time then you deleted by selecting the ones you wanted to get rid of. Now you have to tap each individual message and by the time you reach number 10 you lose the first nine.
It's a shame that Samsung does not support its own app instead we are forced to use Google's app. There are some good features with the Google app but it has sort comings. Google and Samsung should combine the good stuff and leave the rest alone
Samsung is no longer supporting its own app, because they are sunsetting it and keeping it around only to wean die-hards off of it. They lost the RCS battle in favor of Google, and Google's version of RCS is what the carriers are supporting.

Unfortunately you have to select each message you want to delete individually. It is frustrating when you tap in the wrong spot and then lose all your selections, so periodically, just tap the trashcan to delete your selections and the repeat the process. I suspect Google left it this way to ensure deleting messages was more of a deliberate act, since they don't have a trash bin, and once the messages are deleted, there is no recovery.
