Fold & Flip Phones

Hi everyone, I've never used an Android phone before, I've always used iPhones. Is there anyone here who uses the Z Flip foldable phone? Are you happy with it? I heard that Android phones freeze and lag after a while, is that true? Does this phone have any screen problems in a short period of time? Thanks in advance to everyone.

If you get a modern flagship Samsung, it won't lag. Touchwiz and Samsung Experience were unoptimized, which led to the device lagging hard after about 2 years. I had the Z Flip 7 and loved it but I got the S26 now. If you go with a foldable, get Samsung Care or something because the repair prices are pretty high on foldables. I didn't have many issues with the display on my Flip 7 that I had for about 8 months.

Also, if you're not aware, Samsung offers 7 years of software updates on newer phones.

Hey John! Welcome to the community.

The "Android phones lag and freeze" stereotype comes from people who have only experienced budget Android phones and have not used a high end/flagship device.

You will not experience these things on an S or Z series Samsung phone.

I had a Z Flip 5 and traded it for an S24+. The Flip is by far my favorite form factor of any device I have ever owned... There were just some hardware trade offs I couldn't handle at the time.

MUST KNOW:

โ€ข Foldables are not fragile but they are higher maintenance and more prone to mechanical issues than traditional slab phones.

โ€ข The built in screen protector will peel and need to be replaced at a certified Samsung repair center around 6-12 months of use.

โ€ข TheZ Flip 7 battery and cameras are roughly on par with with the base model S25, minus a telephoto lens.

โ€ข You should not purchase a foldable without also purchasing Care+. They are more durable than ever but the screen does literally bend in half and you don't want to be paying full price if you have a screen failure.

Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out with any follow up questions.
