Make sure your husband logged the phone out of both his Samsung and Google accounts, then sign into the device with your own Google and Samsung accounts. You will not be able to reset the phone if they are still linked to someone else's account, as they need to be set up with the information from the original accounts. If you don't have your own accounts, make them. You should never share accounts unless you *want* your husband tracking your activity.
