Galaxy Note PhonesMay I ask why you think your messages are being read by someone?

Galaxy Note PhonesI do not believe there is any way to tell without giving Megabucks to a cybersecurity expert. What you can do is
A) make sure you change the password to your Google and Samsung accounts, and your email, for good measure.
B) Check your Google account to see if any devices that are not yours are logged in. If you see any you do not recognize, log them out. If you accidentally log yourself out, the worst that will happen is that you will have to log back in.
C) Factory reset your phone and only restore your settings and contacts and download all your apps clean (pretty sure it's time for a cleanout anyway).
D) Ask your carrier for a new SIM if you are using a physical SIM.
It's a pain in the neck, but you should feel safer. Never let a potential ex (i.e. current SO) have access to your phone or accounts or any password for same.
You can also switch to WhatsApp as your messaging app and tell your friends that's the only way to message you.
As @Robin621k suggested, if you are using Google messages and said ex paired their computer to their phone after having had acess to your Google account, they would be able to read your messages from their computer. The most important thing is to change your Google password and 2FA authentication method.
