If you're unable to mute or silence group text messages on your Note20 after a software update, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Message Settings:

    • Open the Messages app on your Note20.
    • Tap the group chat that you want to mute.
    • Look for the group chat settings or options within the chat. It's usually represented by three dots or a gear icon.
    • Check if there's an option to mute or silence the chat. This option might be labeled as "Do not disturb" or "Mute notifications."
  2. Check Notification Settings:

    • Go to your device's settings.
    • Navigate to "Apps" or "Applications" and find the "Messages" app.
    • Tap on "Notifications."
    • Ensure that notifications for the Messages app are not set to "Sound" or "Alerts." You can choose "Silent" or "None" to mute notifications.
  3. Restart Your Phone: Sometimes, issues with app settings can be resolved by simply restarting your phone.

  4. Update the Messages App: Make sure that you're using the latest version of the Messages app. Check for updates in the Google Play Store and install any available updates.

  5. Clear App Cache and Data: If the issue persists, you can try clearing the cache and data of the Messages app. This will reset the app's settings, so make sure to back up any important messages first.

  6. Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can consider performing a factory reset on your Note20, but only do this if all other methods fail. Be sure to back up your data before proceeding.

  7. Contact Samsung Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's advisable to reach out to Samsung Support or your carrier's customer support for further assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or be aware of any known issues related to the software update.

Remember that software updates can sometimes introduce bugs or changes in settings, and it's possible that the issue you're experiencing is related to the update. In such cases, future updates may provide a fix.
