Since installing the Google play system update today, my device is now overheating, can't even put it in my pocket anymore. The screen appears washed out now like the contrast is messed up and it's outputting far too much backlight. Nothing fixes it. No settings changes, nothing. This is an awful update!!! Worst in a long time. I don't usually ever have issues like this with the Google Play System Updates unlike regular System Updates from time to time.

Hello, We understand how frustrating it is when an update causes concerns such as overheating and screen issues.

Have you tried clearing the app cache for Google Play Store and Play Services? You may also need to clear the data. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00077611/

You can also try clearing the cache partition and repairing apps in the recovery menu.

To get to recovery mode:
- Turn off phone
- Once off, hold down volume up and power buttons simultaneously
- When Samsung logo appears, release power button BUT KEEP HOLDING VOLUME UP until the recovery menu appears
- Use volume buttons to navigate down to clear cache (NOT CLEAR DATA/ FACTORY RESET)
- Use power button to select.
- Run the repair apps option and your device will restart.

A final troubleshooting step would be to back up the data and factory reset the phone. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062029/

If the phone continues to overheat and the screen display is not corrected, then service is recommended. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location  or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.
