S21 Ultra - Cant change Notification Sound for texts

Galaxy S21 Ultra - Can't change notification alert sounds. Phone keeps using "Verizon alert" notification sound for text messages even though it is not selected. 

Any other phone notifications come through correctly... only texts cannot change the audible alert.

Phone has the latest update as of 2/3/21

Wondering if it was coding ported over from data transfer of old S9+ or if other verizon customers were able to change their Notification sound without issues?

After you press settings and notifications, there is a "more" in small font below the couple of apps that are displayed.  Press "more" and you should see your apps.  You may need to go to the 3 dot menu in the upper right and select "all"

it is irritating that now users have to do extra work to restore or use those sounds they were use to on older model phones. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to hear the same outlook notifications that worked great on my S9 , but now all notifications sound the same on S21. I can't even figure out how to get default app sound notifications back to what they were on my S9. very frustrating.

I have tried EVERYTHING suggested and nothing works. I can hear/change my ringtone, but there is no sound for notifications, system or media. So frustrating!

Do you mean when you long press "Notification Sound" you dont see a list of sounds?

I saw the list of sounds and could select one, but the sound did not play. I ended up doing a factory reset and that worked.
