Is there a way to save a text thread

I want to delete a contact and all history of their existence on my phone but is there a way to save a text conversation thread? Preferable somewhere other then on my phone.

It does not cost money for the basic backup. Only premium features. I've been using it for years. Wherever did you get the idea it costs money? But there are many apps in the play store that will back them up.

All the time Ive been using it, I've never been interrupted by a popup telling me to buy premium, and I know there are small ads across the bottom, but they are unobtrusive and easy to ignore.

You can download SMS backup and restore from the Play store {or similar app) and backup that particular thread (and any others you want) to a flash drive or cloud space. Really simple to use and free.

Yes. I would rather be able to backup 1 particular thread to a flash drive or cloud space and that app will allow me to do it?

Yes. I started using it in 2015 when my brother died and I wanted to preserve his texts so I didn't accidentally delete them. You can back up all, multiple selected, or just one selected chat. You choose where you want to store the backup.
