My friend accidently deleted a message thread that hadgone back at least a year via Google messages. She did not have samsung backup or Google back up turned on. She looked for the undo button but could not find it. Is there any way of retrieving the text thread?

Try going to your Samsung account from the settings. Tap Samsung cloud, then restore data. You should see a similar tree to my images

Google messages has no trash, so if one deletes messages, they cannot be retrieved unless a backup has been made. This is why both Samsung and Google protect us from ourselves by having backup on automatically. I don't understand why people turn it off. If something is important, you should be backing it up by some means. If one does not want to use either Samsung or Google backup for whatever reason, there are myriad programs in the Play store that will automatically or manually backup for you. SMS backup and restore and an excellent program for this. With no backup resource active, what is your friend going to do if they have a total device failure and lose everything?

Please tell me where the restore button on the S25 Ultra is in the the non existent Samsung back up (Directed to realud and Samsung) or the existing Google Drive back up, You can no only restore an entire phone back up unless I am missing something from S25 Ultra that is less than 4 months old.

Tap on your Samsung account.  Tap on Samsung Cloud.  Scroll down to the bottom, tap on restore data.  Tap on your device, either selectively restore items, or keep everything checked and tap restore. You can do this, as well, from settings/accounts and backup/restore data.  A backup would only be non-existent if you turned off auto backup, which you can't do.  Google backup can only be restored on a newly reset device and only when it's first set up and you log into your Google account (except for photos, contacts and calendar, which are synced).  If you read any part of the earlier comments in the thread, these instructions, and photos, are there.

Is there a reason for your snippiness?  And, if you do restore an entire phone backup, is that a tragedy?  It will either overwrite what is already there or ignore what's already there and only restore new stuff.

That is not on my phone the Samsung cloud is not available to me at this time and yes I am snippy as it should be updated information for a new phone. I have searched the phone and Samsung store and there is no Samsung cloud anymore.
If the name has changed it is not clear and the Google option does not allow for restore unless you restore the entire phone.

Is Verizon your carrier?  They block access to the Samsung cloud.  This is a Verizon issue, not a Samsung issue.

It's both if a carrier blocks something on a person's phone, that is a very important detail that should be posted for Verizon Samsung users, don't you think?
Snippeyss is warranted here I think, I have been with Samsung and Verizon since 2018 and this is the first I have heard of it as my older phones Had Samsung cloud.

That Verizon blocks access is a Verizon issue, not a Samsung issue, and they have no obligation to inform you of this.  Verizon does.  Snippiness may be warranted (in your opinion), but  it is directed at the wrong entity.  I do not work for Samsung or Verizon, nor can I do anything about that issue.  I don't know what Verizon did in the past and if/when they changed their policy.  I have always avoided doing business with Verizon in general.

There are many third party backup apps, that you can set to do automated backups to the device or cloud storage of your choice.  You can also make Smart Switch backups to a flash drive, external hard drive or computer.  Backing up your phone is a personal responsibility, Samsung just makes it a bit easier.  Verizon wants to sell you their own backup service, so they block access.

Now that you mentioned That Verizon blocked Samsung Cloud I went to Verizon cloud and found the restore text messages very easy.
So to any user if you have Verizon Carrier your cloud storage through Verizon stores your backups and restore functions Not Samsung as all the internet posts keep referring to, this should be noted by Samsung and their representatives at any and all levels!
