Blinking Notification

I recently bought the Galaxy S26 as a replacement for my S8. I was disappointed to find that there are no more blinking notification lights to indicate a missed notification. On my Galaxy S8, I had it set so a blinking blue light indicated a missed text and a blinking green light indicated a missed call/voice mail. I could see this just by looking at my phone at a distance. It was very convenient. I'm not sure when this disappeared, but I can't be the only one to miss this really convenient feature. Has anybody heard if Samsung has any plans to bring it back? If not, does anybody know of a quality app that does the same thing?

Thank you in advance.

@Me_NotYou Samsung is not planning on bringing it back. It has been gone for a very long time.

In phone settings -> Notifications -> Notification pop-up style you can use "Add lighting effect" to display different effects around the edge of your screen when a notification is received.

Thank you for the reply. I'll have to try to find an app that will simulate the old blinking LED light. It might be impossible if the appropriate hardware is not on the phone. I do have these notifications set up, but they only light up or flash when I get the notification. I'm looking for something that will continue to blink until I acknowledge it. Unfortunately, based on other feedback, I'm not hopeful. Thanks again for the reply!

Transitioning from a Galaxy S8 to a Galaxy S26 reveals the lack of physical LED notification lights, removed for sleeker, edge-to-edge designs. Although Samsung has no plans to bring this feature back, users can mimic it on AMOLED devices through software.

Two main methods to restore notification alerts include:

1. **Best App Fix (aodNotify)**: This app simulates a physical LED through the Always On Display (AOD) feature, using minimal battery by lighting up a small screen area. Users can customize alerts, such as a blinking blue light for Google Messages and a green light for missed calls, activating notifications only when received.

2. **Built-In Samsung Alternatives**:
- **Edge Lighting**: Lights up the screen edges in a chosen color when a notification arrives, customizable through Settings > Notifications.
- **Flash Notifications**: Uses the camera flash or front screen to briefly blink for notifications, but only once.

For the best mimicry of old notification lights, downloading aodNotify is recommended for customizable per-app notification colors.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try to find that app and see if it is what I'm looking for. I appreciate the feedback!
