I'm having an issue with getting audible message notifications when using wireless Android Auto on my S26 Ultra in my 2026 BMW. This was working fine with my S22U in the same car, and as far as I can tell, all permissions and notification settings are the same on both phones. I'm receiving messages, and can have them read to me, but I'm not getting the incoming message tone while connected to AA. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello @DeniseL62, Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We have listed some steps below that may help you with getting the notifications.
I hope that you are able to get the issue resolved. Please feel free to reach back out to Community if you need any further assistance.

Check notifications by opening Android Auto on your car screen, go to Settings, and ensure "Show message notifications" is enabled.
2. Clear the App Cache by going to Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Storage, then select "Clear cache" and "Clear data" to reset the app.
3. Check App Permissions by going to Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Permissions and ensure all permissions, especially SMS, contacts, and phone, are allowed.
4. Restart & Update: Restart your phone and check for software updates (Settings > Software update).

You also want to make sure that your phone is not in battery saver mode, and also in the Android Auto app on your phone, set "Start Android Auto automatically" to "Always".
I hope this information helps you!

Well, somehow it is working. None of the suggestions above worked. I ended up having to create a Driving mode and allow Notifications from Messages, and a few other things. Honestly the interface with AA with a new phone is always so difficult, it's making me wish I got an iPhone, even though I've been an Android user forever. There's always one crazy obscure setting that is different. AA automatically puts the phone into Do Not Disturb mode, and you have to do what seems like unnatural things to get around it. This doesn't seem to happen with iPhone and CarPlay.
