LED and OLED TVsWhen using a gaming console, the HDMI-CEC does turn on the TV when I fire up my console, great! However, when I shut down console the TV does not shutoff, it either goes to Samsung TV or when I disable Samsung TV it goes to Antenna disconnect message. I've played with all the settings I can find also powered down and even did factory reset. This is a real pain because you have to find the remote to shut off tv when you're done gaming.
Samsung support has been no help, said they moved it to tier 2 support but crickets.

LED and OLED TVsHello! Thank you for reaching out! It seems that it will depend on the console that you are using, as the console itself will have to send the power off signal. And not all consoles will have this feature. After looking, if you have an Xbox Series X, it does not work. The PS5 does have an option, but it will need to be enabled on the console itself. First, make sure that Anynet + is turned on. On the TV, go to Settings > General > External Device Manager and turn it on. After that, if you have a PS5, please go to Settings > System > HDMI > Enable HDMI Device Link. Also, please turn on One-Touch Play and Power Off Link. Please let me know if this helps. Also, keep in mind that this can/will be limitations of the connected device.

LED and OLED TVsI'm not sure that would be a feature of the HDMI connection. Technically, the HDMI connection is still active to the TV, so it will not turn off without intervention. Unless there is some setting in the gaming console to do so. However, if your tv is a Smart TV and connected to Smart Things, you can probably create a Smart Things routine to turn off the TV when the gaming console shuts off. Not sure if it requires the gaming console to also be compatible with Smart Things. I can't test it myself, as I do not have a smart TV, nor do I have a gaming console. If your TV is connected to an Alexa device, you can also just tell Alexa to turn off the TV instead of hunting for the remote. Why wouldn't the remote be nearby, anyway?

LED and OLED TVsI should have added this is a new tv, my other tv the HDMI did turn off and on my tv when I shut down and started console,. I have verified that this is unique to the new Samsung. My PS5 is enable and this feature works great on the other tv. I have tried the Anynet+ setting and many others. Finding your remote at 2:00am in the dark to shut off the tv when it's asking to set up antenna connection(that I will never have) is just stupid. There must be something I'm missing.
Thanks

LED and OLED TVsWhy don't you just keep the remote near the TV or your gaming spot all the time, that way you won't have to go looking. As the moderator said, though, your gaming device should have a setting you have to switch on. If your gaming device does not have this setting (you never mentioned which console you have), you would have to try a Smart Things routine, provided both devices are smart things compatible.

LED and OLED TVsIt's should be simple, grab controller fire-up the PS5 ,TV starts. Shutdown console TV shutsdown. Just like the other brand I had before.
BTW, I have read all the responses and workarounds. I game in bed with my wife next to me, asleep. I can't tell Alexa to turn off the TV and I lose that **bleep** remote in bed in the dark, so fumbling around for it, is also problematic.

LED and OLED TVsYou obviously bought a model of TV that does not support the feature and/or didn't turn on the proper setting (if your controller has it) to function as an on/off switch. The very easiest thing to do is keep the remote on your nightstand (not the bed) so you don't have to hunt for it in the dark. The next easiest thing, if you can't find the remote, is go over to your TV and manually turn off the power. The third easiest thing is to plug the TV into a smart plug and turn it off with your phone using the Smart Things app or your plug's app. If your TV is Smart Things compatible (which it should be), you don't even need the smart plug, just control it through the Smart Things app, or set a routine to turn off the TV when the connected game controller turns off.
