Smart Things VPN compatibility

My vacation rental has Samsung Smart dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer. It apparently has problems with Microsoft Defender being installed on my Zfold 6. Does the VPN profile have to be completely deleted to be able to access the samsung devices? 

A beneficial addition to Marriott's Samsung equipment would have been a smarter television.

It says right there in the info to turn off the VPN while setting up the devices snd you can turn it back on after. This is lkely because it needs the true IP address for setup
