QLED and The Frame TVs

Hi! My Samsung QE55QN85DBT QLED 55'' TV (and probably mamy more new models, from what I've read online) don't display 4x3 video correctly in game mode.

Retro game consoles often output 480i or 480p video with 4x3 image aspect ratio. When the game mode is off, the TV lets me choose whether to display that 4x3 image with preserved aspect ratio (black bars on the left and right) or stretched to fit 16x9 screen space. When I enable game mode, the TV always stretches the video to 16x9. Aspect ratio settings are unavailable in game mode. I'm forced to play games either with huge lag or with image stretched horizontally. This is a big problem for me any many fellow Retro gamers. Could you make image aspect ratio configurable in game mode?

Big thanks!

QLED and The Frame TVs

Hi there, thank you for sharing this detailed feedback about how retro game content is displayed in Game Mode on your QLED TV. We understand how important preserving the original 4:3 aspect ratio is; however, I'm sure this is a result of using Game Mode on an older console.

Video game consoles have certain aspect ratios that dictate the image displayed, with the modern standard for most modern consoles being 16:9, while retro consoles often supported or ran best with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, game consoles may also adjust your TV picture size and contrast to optimize the video game picture quality.

We have limited information on this specific model TV, since it is a Levant model TV. We only support US models here, so to receive assistance with your device, please visit: https://www.samsung.com/us/common/visitlocationsite.html. Thanks!
