Hello,

Last time I updated my phone, it made my tap to pay stop working. My Student ID is through tap to pay and I use it to get in my apartment so I really can't go without it. I factory reset my phone after that update after no other solutions working, and my tap to pay worked just fine after that.

Does anyone know if they've taken care of this issue? I keep putting off the update in case it messes up my phone again.

Sometimes glitches happen in a software update.  They can be unpredictable as to what devices and what apps will be affected, if any.  That you fixed your issue with a factory reset is good.  I don't know if you cleared your phone's cache partition first, after TTP started acting up on you, could have saved you the reset and 99% of the time clears up issues such as that.  So, I am not really sure there was a universal  issue to be fixed rather than just a glitch with *your* device.  However, you should go ahead with the new update, as it is unlikely to repeat the problem.  If it does, you should follow these steps:

1. simple reboot - test to see if it works

2. Clear the phone's cache partition (this gets rid of errant temporary files that can interfere) - test to see if it works.

3. Factory reset - this, of course is the nuclear action, and it usually works because it gives you a clean operating system that was not encumbered by being overlaid on the old system. Since the backup never stores the OS/UI, any errors are unlikely to be replicated.

4. Put in an error report if a reset does not solve your problem, as *then* it is something that needs the developers to look at.
