The way Samsung Gallery handles dates is less than ideal to say it nicely.
I have a huge library of pictures I took over the last 5 years. I want to copy it to my brand new shiny phone. I plug my phone with an USB 3 cable and start the file transfer and it takes ages (btw thanks for the usb 2.0 on a 2025 device). I decide I don't want to waste 2h so I copy my pictures to a portable nvme drive and do the transfer in 20 minutes. All fine and dandy.
What I noticed :
- pc transfer : proper dates and sorting but ultra slow - external driver : Samsung Gallery had the correct Exif information regarding the date the picture was taken, it showed all pictures on one particular date, pictures are sorted randomly, pictures from 2021 (august, september, december) are all placed on the same date january 11 2022.
My question to the wizards of Samsung is why ? Why cant you add a sort button based on Creation Date, Modified Date ? Why are you sorting based on the Modified Date from Windows from more than 3 years ago ? I would understand if it took the Modified Date from today, I copy today the pictures to the nvme drive, and you get confused and use that, but it takes it from some weird exif info. Makes no sense
