Samsung Apps and Services1. Simple reboot - in many cases this is all that is needed to clear up issues
1a. Run a diagnostic on the hardware. Diagnostics can be found in the device care settings.
2. Wipe the phone's cache partition. This will clean out any temporary files that may be causing problems without deleting any data or changing your settings. If the simple reboot did not clear up the problem, this should help. It is usually good for clearing up a good 80% of issues.
2a. If you are having a problem with a particular app, wipe that app's cache and see if the problem clears up. Wipe the app data if it still does not clear up. Clearing the data of an app does not delete any actual data (like notes, or photos), it only clears the settings, which you will have to reconfigure. Look for an app update.
3. Reboot your phone into safe mode. Safe mode loads only the operating system and natively installed apps, so if issues you are having are caused by a third party app you will not see a replication of that issue. If your issue does not repeat in safe mode, you will then have to identify the problem app, which is no easy task. Start with the last app installed prior to the problem appearing. It could also be an older app that has not been updated that is running in the background and causing conflicts.
If none of the above steps work, you may have to take the drastic measure of the factory reset. When doing a factory reset, you have a choice to selectively restore certain items only, such as settings and messages; everything - apps and settings. Or, you can start from scratch an reinstall and reconfigure every app. In most cases, this is not necessary. With a malware infection, it is.
With a factory reset you get a fresh, clean operating system, so any errors due to an update not completely removing the old pieces of the system should clear up. It is important to note that any personal data, such as downloads, music and media (and photos, if you have Google backup off) will have to be either backed up separately to a flash drive or you can do a complete Smart Switch backup to a flash drive or Samsung's temporary cloud storage. This will back up everything on your phone except, again, the operating system. You can then restore the backup all at once or selectively. Selectively is likely the best option, lest you inadvertently replicate the very issue you are trying to fix.
If none of this helps your issue, put in an error report https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

Samsung Apps and ServicesOneUI 7 likely did not fry your motherboard. You MB may have been failing before the update and the strain of the new installation was the nail in the coffin for it. It might have failed even without the update.
You also had one of the lowest tier phones, so likely not premium hardware. Which is not to say that the electronics shouldn't have lasted longer, but I don't believe those phones were made for longevity - just my opinion.
