I'm having an issue creating stickers from the gallery.

In the past, we could long press to get a sticker selection amd then manually edit that selection.

Now however, the ai selection makes it's selection, and we get no option to adjust that selection at all.
(For instance, I wanted just a head selection, but instead it selected the entire object with now option to crop or adjust it.)

Getting some videos posted on how these new tools can be used would be SO helpful, instead of only seeing 50,000 camera shootouts.

I have the same problem. S23 ultra, can't manually select nor edit AI's selection. I used the prior version alot too (so easy). Nothing happens when I long-press the preview clip. Help!!!

Ok, figured it out (S23 Ultra with AI upgrade). You have to go to the pic you want to save the sticker FROM (not TO) first, long press on image, press the 3 dots, then Edit, then the old format shows up; select manual, then save as Sticker to be used on another picture. The old way was easier for me.

But it only allows you to edit the sticker AI made for you

Nope still doesn't let you make the sticker like you want. I just want to be able to stick a whole picture as a sticker, why is this so hard? Maybe impossible? No solution in these comments works.

Samsung please bring back the option to create custom stickers in the image editor. Since updating to One UI 6.1 they removed the option to create custom stickers. Before you were able to choose the image you wanted and then either choose touch to snap image or choose what you want by tracing around the image. Now when you choose an image from your gallery it will just automatically choose the complete image as the sticker. This sucks.

@JesterPizzle It is working as expected on my S23 Ultra. It does however depend on the image content. When I try the long press on a screenshot of a lot of icons it does want to save the whole image as an sticker instead of just where I did the long press. If I use another photo with a well defined item, the long press method properly selects the part of the image and only uses that as a sticker.

Here is a screenshot from my S21 Ultra still on One UI 6.0 and then from my S23 Ultra. When choosing this as a sticker it gives me these options. However on my S23 Ultra when choosing the same image it gives me an error "Couldn't find any image to clip" and automatically closes, let alone give me a chance to long press anything. I did screen recordings but unfortunately it won't let me post them here.1711984307120.jpg1711984832755.jpg

@JesterPizzle As a test, I downloaded your photo so I could test it on my Fold 5 which is still on 6.0.

When I long press on the photo in Gallery, I get "Couldn't find anything to clip". The photo stays open.

If I edit the photo (pencil -> 4 circles -> Lasso), I get the screen that you show with the Snap to and other options.

If I try the same on my S23U running 6.1, I get the same results.

Maybe it is related to the version of Gallery your S21 is running.

  • My Fold 5 is running Gallery v15.0.01.1.
  • My S23 Ultra is running Gallery v15.1.03.12.

Have you tried clearing the cache of the Gallery or wiping the device cache partition? Your Gallery shouldn't close the photo if it can't find anything to clip.

@JesterPizzle I just got an update for Photo Editor (v3.4.21.41). One item it mentions on the change list is "Changed Object eraser's methods of selecting objects (added Magnetic lasso option)". Hopefully that fixes the issue that you are having.
