Can apps in the Secure Folder access files in the Secure Folder when opening/saving files on Tab S9 after One UI 8 update?

My Galaxy Tab S9 currently on One UI 7 has an update available for One UI 8. If anyone has updated any tablet (especially Tab S9) from One UI 7 to One UI 8, are apps inside the secure folder able to open and save files that are also in the secure folder?

My S23 has a bug after the One UI 8 update where when an app inside the secure folder tries to open or save a file, the file picker only sees files that are outside the secure folder and not in the secure folder. Hence, the app (for example keepass2android) in the secure folder requires the data files to exist outside the secure folder to be able to read/write to in. Kind of defeats the purpose of using a secure folder if sensitive data like a password database needs to be stored outside the secure folder. Others have reported the same issue on other phones but I don't see anything listed for the tablets. Hope one of you can check and post.

The issue is listed in the following posts for reference.

Thanks!

I mentioned the password manager since that is how I found out the issue. Regardless of whether it makes sense to keep a password manager in the secure folder, there are other apps affected with the same issue, as mentioned in the links I provided. I noticed this also applies to saving documents and statements from banking apps that are in the secure folder; it only offers to save the documents outside the secure folder.

This is a serious issue (at least for me) and I just wanted to know if it affects the tablets too, specifically my Galaxy Tab S9. From a reply in one of the linked articles, it looks like it does affect the Tab S9. I will be putting off the update as long as possible.

PS: The link to the Tab S9 comment (Thanks @Chorm) is https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Samsung-Apps-and-Services/Secure-folder-applications-within-cann...

Password keepers are, by their nature, secure and don't need to be placed in a secure folder. Kind of makes it impractical to use. The only reason you would need to keep a password file in the secure folder is if it was a plain text, unsecured list of your passwords. If you are using a password manager app/auto filler that does not have its own app security, change it right now. Apps like Samsung Pass, Google password Manager, Roboform, LastPass, One password, etc. are secure and encrypted and don't need to be in the secure folder.

Oh, I'm sorry, I don't use the secure folder at all, so I cannot help you. I only commented because you mentioned the password managers and I thought that was what you were having an issue with.  I hope someone with knowledge of secure folder operations steps in to help you.  I can't imagine the workings of the secure folder would differ between devices.

Unfortunately, my Tab S9 updated to One UI 8 overnight and I can also confirm that the bug I was seeing on my phone exists on the tablet too. 😢 Hope they fix it soon.

Have you put in an error report? It won't get fixed unless they know about it.  They won't know about it unless an error report is sent. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

Yes, I filed an error report and it is currently "Under review". I hope enough users affected by this issue file a report so it gets addressed quickly.

I had also filed the report for my phone and Samsung had opened a ticket with Google to address this issue.

I got a reply back from Samsung that the issue is due to Google's documentsUI and that a ticket has been raised with Google. Hope Google responds soon.
