Hi! I have a Samsung galaxy tab a8 2022 which works completely fine but i tried using a usb c to ethernet adapter to connect to my lan port as in my college there are only lan ports available as source of internet and there's no Wi-Fi. I tried enabling and disabling USB debugging as well as default usb config to usb tethering and still i cannot access the ethernet option in my connections settings which is still grey.

My adapter is showing perfect connectivity and there is no cable or port damage.

What should I do in order to access ethernet connection?

Hi pixelfr13096,

We understand the need for internet connection being a student in school and would like to assist. Have you connected a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and a standard Ethernet cable? We recommend plugging the adapter into your tablet's USB-C port, then connect the Ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the adapter. Next, on your tablet, go to Settings > Connections > More connection settings and toggle the Ethernet option to on (this option will be greyed out until the tablet detects the connected cable(s)). The final option would be a service repair, and you can submit the request here- https://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/

Please keep us updated.

Do you have auto blocker off in the security settings?  If that is not turned off, it will prevent all actions via USB other than charging.  I cannot believe that a college in this day and age does not have wi-fi throughout the campus.

Thank You @realaud for reaching out to me and auto blocker by default is off in my system and still i cant connect to ethernet via converter which works on all of my peers phones and tablets while i am stuck with relying on hotspot from other devices. And this is NIT Silchar from where I am writing this message to you. And in this college only LAN is available which is high speed around 200-1000mbps internet depending upon the cable type but there is no wifi and i dont want to waste another 10-15 dollars on a LAN to Wifi router. I don't know if this issue is regarding any hidden setting in my device or my device innately doesn't support ethernet. I am repeating again that ETHERNET option is still grey in my system even if I connect the device.

Sir I have tried everything available in the Samsung settings and developer options but i definitely think that its issue is related to inbuilt support for ethernet or its ethernet hardware chip is damaged. My device detects the adapter connected through usb c but it only charges the device but my ethernet option is still greyed out.

Have you tried turning on the ethernet *after* you connect to the LAN port?  The option may not be active until the connection is complete, not just that the adapter is plugged in - I do not know, as I never had the need to use it. It is possible the ethernet adapter you have is not completely compatible or is, itself, defective. Do you know anyone who will lend you theirs for testing purposes? If another adapter works, it would rule out any type of port damage or tablet issues.  If it does not work, then you should do as the moderator suggested and arrange for evaluation and servicing.

The adapter works with every phone they had except for my A8 tab.

It is possible, then that that particular adapter is not compatible with the tablet, although I see no reason why it shouldn't be.  Try borrowing someone else's adapter to test.

I tried doing it with different adapters available at that time and I now believe that its basically my Tablet Issue . My tablet doesn't support ethernet out of the box but this information is not available anywhere I searched.

I think you should put in an error report. I'm pretty sure ethernet is supported on all devices with an adapter.
