I have recently downloaded the Google clock app. I wanted to use their clock instead of the Samsung one for a material you style clock. But when trying to place it, it keeps saying no space when I clearly shrinked it. And no, there is no extra space around that. I tested it by placing one in a blank page and it worked. So what is happening.

But, if you show the home screen where you want to  place it, we can probably tell you why the phone is telling you there's no room. If you ever noticed, while placing an icon or folder, there's a dot grid on the home screen. Not only does the border of the widget you are using have to have enough space, it also must have space inside the grid lines.  Since it's not a Samsung widget, it is likely not stackable, so you cannot put it on top of another widget.  As I said, you will probably have to do a little rearranging of your home screen.  If there are apps you absolutely do not want to move off that page, create a folder or folders and put those apps in the folder, then you will have room for your clock widget.  You can also adjust the size of your home page grid.  I have my grid at 5x5.  Adjusting the size of the home page grid will reduce the size of your icons and give you extra space.  You can do this in settings/home screen/ home screen grid.  There are additional grid sizes available in Good Lock's Home Up module if none of the "stock" sizes suit you.

Is it the Google clock widget that you're trying to put on your home screen? If it is a widget, you need to see exactly how big it is by long pressing on it to have it activate the boundary. Even though you may have shrunk it, the widget boundary still may be larger than the space you're trying to put it into. I hope that made sense

Thanks, it is the Google clock. I have confirmed it is not that big in the screenshot:1754609613333.jpg

You only are showing the clock and the widget boundary, not the entire home screen so that we can see what is around it.  It may be bumping up against the boundary of another widget.  You may have to move something off the page in order to make room for the clock to be placed where you want it.

For context the page I was testing it on was a *blank* page. Can't show you it on my home because it can't fit for some reason. Screenshot if you rlly need it:1754610775833.jpg

However, the widget is stackable. Seems like a solution for me. But I have to tweak the home screen a little. Here is my home screen. (The analog clock is the one I want to replace it with)1754612287163.jpg

I don't know that you had to go all the way to 10x6. I don't like tiny icons, I use categorized folders because I refuse to have more than 2 home screens.  Oh, sorry.  Didn't even see you were referring to a tablet. In that case 10x6 is not horrible. I have a tendency not to look at the category.
