Text Messaging Apps for Tablet

 Hi,

I've been having issues with my tablet, Galaxy Tab A11 + The default text app, Google Messages, doesn't work right, and now won't work unless I pair my phone. My phone is broke and I'm getting a replacement soon. Yes I've contacted Google. What I want to ask here is, is there an alternative to Google for text messaging on this tablet? I'm also having issues with the default settings, and I've tried to contact Google, but it's hard to reach them. Any suggestions?

Text messages are tied to your cell number. Until you get your new phone you need to use something like Whatsapp or Facebook messenger.

What default settings are you having trouble with?

OK that makes sense. I guess I'll end up pairing the phone and tablet once my replacement gets here.
As for the default settings, I'll try and get a screenshot which will better show you what's going on

When I tried to make another text app my default, this shows up when I hit "make default "

You would need to have another texting app on your device to set it as your default.

OK, but I had had Google as my default. But it doesn't show.

Probably because it's disconnected from your phone.
