Hi there,
I recently purchased a replacement heating element for my Samsung dryer tahts ten years old.
The original heating element in my dryer had three prongs, and was wired with red, blue, and white wires. The replacement part has only two prongs, so I connected the red and blue wires to the new element and safely capped off the white wire with electrical tape.
The dryer is now heating up and running well, but I just wanted to confirm that this is the correct and safe way to install the new element. Specifically:
- What was the function of the white wire in the original 3-prong element?
- Is it okay to leave it disconnected when using this 2-prong element?
I want to make sure I didn’t bypass any safety features. I’d really appreciate your guidance on this!
Thanks
!
