IMEI Number issues - Fact-checking Xfinity claims about Samsung A54 compatibility

Purchased new unlocked Samsung A54 from Samsung direct via website in Dec. 2023. (Traded in previous Samsung Note 9.) Received new A54, which shows an IMEI and an IMEI (eSIM) number.

Brought physical phone to Xfinity to request transfer of number to new IMEI. Transfer completed Dec. 2023.

JUST learned that Xfinity voicemail function has never worked. A year's worth of potential voicemails never received. During troubleshooting, learned:

1.  Xfinity "paired" my BYOD phone # from Note 9 with a Motorola phone. I've never had or used a Motorola phone.

2.  Xfinity rep claims my A54 and the Motorola have the SAME IMEI.

3.  Xfinity says the unlocked A54 was never compatible with Xfinity network. That it will work for calls and texts, but not for voicemail.

4.  Xfinity claims the only way to solve the problem--and potentially retrieve missed voicemails--is to purchase a new COMPATIBLE phone from Xfinity, pair the new phone with my number and Xfinity account. Then Xfinity will switch the two numbers between the phones and I will be able to access the voicemail on the new device,

DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE ANY SENSE from Samsung's perspective as the manufacturer of this unlocked phone? Or in any way?

Greatly appreciate any help or suggestions from the community!

Sounds to me that you are getting the run around and they expect you to pay for there 'phone' to work wink wink but somehow your phone does work minus voicemail personally I would port to a better carrier

@SLOlaw-LCS11 Some edge carriers promise that bringing your own device will work. But in reality, they make it difficult and coerce you to buy their devices.

Sounds like it's time to find a new carrier.

Find a new carrier they are definitely giving you the runaround because they want you to purchase their device I have never heard of voicemail not working but everything else working when it comes to an unlocked phone on a network and I've used unlocked phones but on Verizon and T-Mobile and cricket since 2019 and only had specific issues to the carrier specific apps like a spam filter
