New Smart tag 2 shows registered to another account

I bought a brand new smart tag and when I tried to register it, it says that it's already registered to someone else butwhen I opened it it still had the little plastic thing for the battery so I'm confused on what to do. I've tried resetting it by removing the battery and inserting it while holding the button but that didn't work. I don't know what to do.

Ok but how do I reset it so that I can use it

@slender981 I'm pretty sure that the original owner has to remove it from their account.

I'm just pressing the button 2 times every once in a while since it will ring their phone until they remove it
