I left a comment about the AOD and charging status not being able to change the brightness since the One UI 6.1 update. I just found out the notifications when I receive a message aren't even bright. It's so dim I can even see who sent me a message even with the color by keyword. This needs to be fixed soon.
Do you have Goodlock? If not download Goodlock. In the Lockstar app the brightness slider is in there. Turn off the auto brightness and it will show the slider
I have a similar vision problem with mine. Couldn't you darken the letters numbers etc alot more. I've got mine on bold. And it drains my battery. Hard to enjoy when it's difficult to read.
