Disappointment Over One UI 7 Beta Availability

Hello Samsung,

As a proud owner of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, I’m extremely disappointed that this premium flagship device wasn’t included in the One UI 7 beta program. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 series, which is also a flagship, gets the opportunity to experience the beta.

It’s frustrating to see a device as high-end and expensive as the Z Fold 6 not being given the same consideration. We, as foldable users, invest in Samsung’s innovative technology and expect to be treated on par with other flagship series.

Could Samsung please explain how this is fair? Is there a timeline for when foldable users can expect access to the beta? As loyal customers, we deserve the chance to experience the latest advancements in One UI alongside other premium device owners.

Looking forward to some clarity on this matter.

Thank you.

I'm a s24u owner and a s9 tablet owner. I trust the company, far more than Apple. However they need to open the beta to more end users should they choose to join. The frustration is justified, and mounting as people talk more and more about the new security built-in. In a world that looks increasingly hostile , we are tired of constantly looking over our devices to make sure they are safe. Our data is safe. So when you go and advertise one ui 7 is far safer with data, just how much of my data is out there from running an older build. These are the things I wonder about.

You bring up a valid point. Samsung has built a strong reputation for trust and security, but when they advertise something as game-changing like One UI 7’s enhanced security, it naturally raises concerns for those still on older builds. If the new version is so much safer, what does that say about the risks we’re exposed to while waiting?

Opening the beta to more users would not only ease frustration but also allow more of us to benefit from these supposed improvements sooner. It's not just about access—it’s about confidence in the devices we use every day. Your concerns are completely justified.

The S series devices have been first to get the latest processors and have the most advanced camera system. They are Samsung's premium smartphones. If not for their foldable screens, the Z series phones would be mid range devices. This may change next summer with the release of the Z Fold7, which hopefully will have the camera hardware from the Z Fold SE and the latest processor. That will finally be a premium Samsung foldable phone!

Wow, that’s quite the take! So, according to you, foldables are just glorified mid-range devices with fancy screens? The Fold series literally pioneers Samsung’s cutting-edge tech with foldable innovation that the S series doesn’t even touch. It’s not just about cameras or processors—it’s about redefining what smartphones can do. If you think the Fold 7 is going to be the first premium foldable, maybe you’ve been missing the point of the Fold line altogether.

I am aa Z Fold5 user and I love the phone. But I've also used the S21U - S24U and they are much more sophisticated devices, especially when considering their camera capabilities. If you never unfolded your Z Fold phone, its capabilities are quite limited compared to the S series Ultra devices. As I said previously, I'm hoping this finally changes with the Z Fold 7 next summer.

I have to disagree with you. The Fold 6’s camera is on par with the S24 in most scenarios and even outshines it in some, thanks to its unique design. Being able to use the main camera for selfies and the larger screen for precise framing gives it a clear advantage. Add to that the unmatched multitasking and versatility of the Fold, and it’s not just a phone with a foldable screen—it’s a complete powerhouse. The S series might focus on cameras, but the Fold combines innovation, performance, and functionality in a way the S series can’t match.

Well, sounds like someone might have been a little late to the party! Or maybe your carrier decided you’re better off skipping the beta fun altogether? 🤣

The funny thing is I have been on the beta program for forever and I'm on Verizon which I believe has the beta program available. Definitely late to the party but there's a capacity limit. Maybe we should extend the party outside to the pool area?

Yes, I can't fully disagree with you, the folds are fantastic in some ways. A year ago I took a trip to Hawaii for a week and decided that I could get by with just my Fold5 and leave my laptop home. This worked out quite well and the photos and videos I recorded with the device are beautiful. I'm hoping to trade in my Fold5 next summer for a Fold7. The cameras on the S series Ultra though are a cut above, having a 200mp sensor, 100X zoom and several more unique features which I have never had a need to try out.
