I dislike how using Vol - now only goes down to vibe mode. Please reconnect silent to the button. Thanks.

I agree. This needs to change.

the volume key stops at vibrate by default. For full silent, youโ€™ll need to toggle it in Quick Settings or Sound settings. You could also submit feedback in the Members app to request bringing back one-button silent.

Starting a thread is not the same thing as expressing your feedback directly to the development team via feedback.  All posting here does is gages how many other people have this issue and garner workarounds to accomplish what you want. Submit feedback here:

To distinguish it from an error report, choose the category "others", preface your commentary with "THIS IS FEEDBACK", and then start your blurb and submit without logs.

Exactly if I wanted to be inconvenienced and relearn a phone I would just buy an iPhone which I might just do now!

Relearn your phone? Over a mute button?  There are sooooooo many ways to mute your phone on a Galaxy, that the absence of being able to do it by holding down the volume key is a non-issue.  If you had read through this entire thread, you will have seen all the ways to do it, even the routine I set up to keep it just as it was so you don't have to relearn anything at all.

Nope I liked it just the way it was you know like how it's been forever! Seems it rearranged the order in a few different controls I had already set up as well. Like I said if I wanted to be inconvenienced I'd get an iPhone.

Suit yourself. You won't learn a new routine to make the button act EXACTLY as it did before, but you will buy a whole new phone with a steeper learning curve, just because you are sad? My purpose is not to convince you not to do that if you choose to, but there is no likely chance that Samsung will change this back (it might even be an Android/Google mandate), since there are many ways built into the UI to achieve the result you want - which is to mute your phone with the least possible human effort.

I guess by this logic they will soon take away the ability to get to vibrate via the volume buttons too and you will only be able to get to the lowesr volume. Because there are other ways to set to vibrate. And soon you won't even be able to change volume with the dedicated volume buttons. Because there are other ways to set the volume.
